The 2024 Harmony Free Fair program book is dedicated to Bruce York. Jeff Chadbourne, the fair president, says that one of the best things that can happen is for an individual to come to the president with a new idea for an event. Someone who has the passion and knowledge to take it to the next level. This is exactly what happened over 20 years ago when Bruce stated we should have truck pulls at the fair.
Many of our fairgoers likely know Bruce is the point person for the truck pulls. It is no secret that the truck pulls are a main event here at the Harmony Free Fair, and one of the most profitable. Bruce and his helpers successfully transformed an old railroad bed into one of the best truck pull tracks in the state. Under his leadership we have purchased a new drag, advanced from a 300-foot manual measuring tape to an electronic measuring system for the pulls, installed lighting so fans can enjoy pulls after dark, and added bleachers for the comfort of the spectators.
While the community enjoys the Harmony Free Fair truck pulls one day a year, Bruce puts in countless hours all year round to ensure that we are able to have truck pulls at our fair. For more than a week before the fair he can be found, night after night, grading the track to be ready for ‘Friday night under the lights’. The morning after the pulls, Bruce will be out rolling the track to prepare it for the next events to be held there. Bruce’s dedication to the Harmony Patriarchs Club and the Harmony Free Fair makes this fair book dedication a very easy choice. Thank you, Bruce, for all you do.
