Did you know that the fair is the only fundraiser conducted by the Patriarchs Club? The first fair was held in 1948 as a way to raise funds for the construction of a new gymnasium for the Harmony School. Since then, the Harmony Labor Day Free Fair has been held every Labor Day weekend (with the exception of 2020) and uses the funds raised to better not only the Town of Harmony but neighboring communities as well. From providing food to our neighbors through Harmony Cares to presenting the Harmony and Athens schools with educational programs, the Patriarchs Club is there to support, enrich and enhance the lives of those around us.
It is said that many hands make light work and it certainly takes many hands to plan, organize and present the fair each year. Now, more than ever, we are in need of helping hands. There are so many ways to help. Volunteers are needed to run events, work in the food and ticket booths as well as the Exhibition Hall. In addition, it takes a lot of work to set up and tear down the fair each year.
Please, consider lending a helping hand and join the Patriarchs Club in helping to make our communities brighter. Simply talk to anyone in an orange volunteer shirt or visit us at a meeting, usually held the second Tuesday of the month.
