The 2021 Harmony Free fair Book is dedicated to Paul Magoon. Paul is the definition of volunteerism and community service. He wears multiple 'volunteer hats' within our town, always helping someone with something. On a typical day, you will find Paul going on calls for the Harmony Regional Ambulance Service, responding to fire calls with the Harmony Fire Department, and helping the food pantry, 'Harmony Cares', with food pickups, unloading and distribution of food to clients.
Another place Paul may be found is up at the fairgrounds helping the Patriarchs Club with any new projects or doing routine maintenance, and, of course, helping with getting ready for the fair. He also helps with many projects at the Harmony Baptist Church.
Paul has been a member of Maine Search and Rescue Dogs (MESARD), a division of Maine Search and Rescue, since 1988. Over the years, Paul and his search and rescue dogs, first Sheba, then Seeker, and now Sardi have volunteered to help in countless searches all over Maine and other states. Ever dedicated, Paul is known for sleeping in his vehicle at a particular search, then getting up and finding the subject before anyone else was even awake.
Clearly, Paul volunteers with many organizations and puts in thousands of hours of volunteer work each year. Yet, he is always there to help a friend or a total stranger with a quiet humility and good nature that seems to encourage others and inspire them to follow his example.
The Harmony Patriarchs Club thanks you, Paul, for your many years of service and all that you have done and continue to do for the Town of Harmony.
