The Harmony Patriarchs Club Presents
the 67th Annual HARMONY FREE FAIR - 2014
Welcome to the 67th Harmony Free Fair! You may recall that last
year we decided to shake things up on Monday by replacing many of
our usual events with new ones such as water polo, swimming, canoe
and kayak races and mud wrestling. Despite the popularity of these
events, we are returning to a more traditional fair this year.
All our favorite events are back – truck pulls, demo derby, horse show,
parade, fireworks, arm wrestling, frog jumping, pig scramble, talent
show and cribbage, just to name a few. Kavanaugh Amusements
is providing the midway again this year, and YES! THE MEGA
BRACELET IS BACK! This is good for rides all four days of the fair.
The 1st Annual John Morrison Scholarship Fund 5K Walk/Run will take place Sunday morning, ending on the fair grounds. Please support this new event, either by participating, or by cheering those who do.
Another exciting new event is a bicycle giveaway for kids ages 5 to 14. We’ll be giving away ten (that’s right, 10!) bikes. Entering is absolutely free. Just stop by the Prize Ticket Booth and be prepared to answer an agriculturalquestion. Kids must be present to win.
New on the main stage we have E.P. Rock (or is it really Elvis??). Saturday night we’ve lined up an old-fashioned comedy/variety show. The complete list of events, contests, games, rules and contacts is in this fine collectible volume of the fair book. Get yourself a highlighter so you don’t miss out. In those rare moments when there’s no event you want to watch or participate in, you can grab a seat at one of our new picnic tables. Get yourself some of your favorite fair food and find a friend. That’s what the fair is all about.
During the past year the Harmony Patriarchs Club supported our community in many ways: by awarding $1,000 in scholarships to high school seniors, an elementary Citizenship Award, supported the school’s art program by sponsoring the fair poster contest, organized a fishing day for the kids and helped send the elementary kids on a field trip.
The Patriarchs Club was formed in 1947 as a community betterment organization. We are always looking for new members. You don’t have to live in Harmony to join, you just need to be willing to volunteer your time to make a difference to lots of folks here in town. If you’d like to learn more about us, just ask anyone in an orange Patriarchs
Club tee shirt, or contact one of the trustees listed in the book.
SEE YOU AT THE FAIR,
